Protection

Whether working internally or externally we ensure that we protect our customer’s property and belongings.This is important to us as customer satisfaction is key to us retaining clientele.

All internal and external flooring is protected with plywood, correx or using traditional dust sheets.

All fixtures and fittings covered up with low tack tape.

All furniture and belongings covered up with plastic and dust sheeting.

Exterior Painting

Preparation is key to attaining a great looking and long lasting finish.

Exterior Stonework

All surfaces to will be raked out, loose and flaking paint scraped, sanded down or burnt off if deemed necessary.
Surfaces will then be filled with toupret masonry filler and sanded down again to achieve a flat finish.
One coat of stabilising primer will then be applied to stop the paint from peeling or flaking in the future.
Finally two coats of masonry gloss or emulsion paint will be applied.

Exterior Woodwork

All surfaces where loose or flaking paint exist to be scraped, sanded down or burnt off where necessary.
Any loose putty to be removed and renewed.
Fill any cracks or blemishes with a two part wood filler where necessary.
Exposed or new timber to be primed.
One or Two coats of undercoat to be applied. (dependant on condition)
One coat of gloss to finish.

Exterior metal or ironwork

All surfaces where loose or flaking paint exist to be wire brushed, sanded down or burnt off where necessary.
Exposed metal or iron to have one coat of red lead.
One coat of undercoat to be applied.
One coat of gloss to finish off.

Rotten Wood

Exterior windows, doors, frames, facia board and all exterior wood that has become rotten
needs special attention to ensure that it does not return.

We use a wet rot wood hardener that binds and hardens decaying wood to provide a solid base and then use a two part wood filler to reshape the surface area.

Larger areas may need to be rebuilt with new wood.

Interior Painting

Preparation is key to attaining a great looking and long lasting finish.

Interior ceilings and walls

Remove old wallpaper where necessary.
Remove loose or blown areas of plaster and skim finish where necessary.
Rake out cracks and remove loose and flaking paint.
Fill cracks and blemishes with appropriate fillers.
Re-line walls where necessary.
Apply mist coat to new plastered walls.
Apply two to three coats (depending on situation) of vinyl emulsion, silk or eggshell to ceilings and walls.

 Interior woodwork

Wash down woodwork.
All surfaces where old paint is loose, flaking or is built up will be scraped, sanded down or burnt off where necessary.
Fill any cracks and blemishes with a two part wood filler where necessary.
Exposed or new timber to be primed.
One or two coats of undercoat to be applied (dependant on condition)
One coat of eggshell, satinwood or gloss to finish.
We can also paint the interior woodwork with water based products to avoid the smell and fumes associated with oil paints if required.

Smoke and fire damaged areas

Remove loose or blown areas of plaster.
Rake out cracks and remove loose and flaking paint.
Wash area down with sugar soap.
Skim finish where necessary.
Fill cracks and blemishes with appropriate fillers.
Apply Zinsser b.i.n primer-sealer-stain killer.
Apply two to three coats of paint.

Water damaged areas

The problem that caused the water damage must be addressed and the area must be dry before works can commence.

Remove loose or blown areas of plaster and skim finish where necessary.
Rake out cracks and remove loose and flaking paint.
Fill cracks and blemishes with appropriate fillers.
Apply alkali resistant primer.
Apply appropriate oil based stain killer.
Apply two to three coats of paint.

Specialist paint

Sometimes our clients require us to use specialist paints.

In the past we have been asked to use EMF Shielding and Conductive Paint in order to block mobile phone signals, CB, TV, AM, FM signals, radio frequency radiation and microwaves.

For a client who was recovering from cancer, we have also used whiteboard paint for turning any smooth surface into a high performance dry-erase surface on office walls, children’s play rooms, table tops, cupboards etc.
